Dye hanji, Korea's traditional mulberry paper, with indigo, sappanwood and gardenia. One dye bath gives a different colour depending on how many times the sheet goes in.
You go through the whole process yourself, from preparing the dye bath to mordanting and drying.
Your dyed sheets go home framed or rolled as a scroll, whichever you prefer.
- All materials and tools
- Drinks and an apron
- One finished piece (option of your choice)
- Small groups of up to 6
- Second floor of the Bukchon studio
Dye can splash, so please avoid light-coloured clothing.
You may reschedule once, free of charge, up to 3 days before your booking. The class takes place at Bukchon Hanji Studio, 2F, 18 Bukchon-ro 11-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul.
Time spent feeling the grain of the paper under your fingertips. The teaching was unhurried, so it was easy even as a beginner.
The space itself is beautiful. It can feel a little tight when the group is full, though.
