Workshop
Bookbinding Ritual
Duration
240 Min
Price
USD 107.14
Fold and stitch hanji into a book using ochim, the five-hole binding of Korean bookmaking. You complete one volume, cover and pages both.
How long a book lasts comes down to the tension of the thread and the spacing of the holes. That judgement is learned by hand.
The book you make is ready to use as a notebook.
- All materials and tools
- Drinks and an apron
- One finished piece (option of your choice)
- Small groups of up to 6
- Second floor of the Bukchon studio
A 4-hour class, with a break and refreshments partway through.
You may reschedule once, free of charge, up to 3 days before your booking. The class takes place at Bukchon Hanji Studio, 2F, 18 Bukchon-ro 11-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul.
Time spent feeling the grain of the paper under your fingertips. The teaching was unhurried, so it was easy even as a beginner.
The space itself is beautiful. It can feel a little tight when the group is full, though.
